According to the april 2001 discussion on the draft directive of traditional herbs medical product,the ad hoc working group  on herbal medicinal products ( HMPWG ) Pan European Federation Of TCM Societies ( PEFOT ),selects out standingChinese patent medicinal products for the European agency for evaluation for medicinal product,which is very important for the spread of TCM throughout the world.

After seriuos discussion, HMPWG selected danshen form compiled a monograf,in both chinese and english,which summarized its farmacology,efficacy,toxicology,and clinic aplication and in which danshen form was evaluated in terms of modern GAP and GMP.

In the clinical summary,meta-analysis was used to assess the danshen form scientifically,and objectivelly. This is the first aplication of the methodology of efidence- bassed medicine in the comprehensive evaluation of the traditional chinese medicinal product.I have found reading it greatly illuminating.

One of the best approaches to advance modern TCM into the world stage is to promote the advanteges of the discipline it selft, and adopt international criteria in clinical trials including rigorously adhering to randomization required according to good research protocol.
